On Friday, May 13, and Saturday, May 14, Ursinus celebrated the Class of 2022 during baccalaureate and commencement ceremonies, respectively, on the lawn outside the Philip and Muriel Berman Museum of Art. As the graduates reflected on challenges of a college experience interrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic, each embraced their resiliency, adaptability, and strength, student government president Jalen Everette ’22 said in his remarks to his classmates.
Katie Merz, a Brooklyn artist who transformed the smokestack outside of the facilities building into a mural titled Live the Questions, addressed the graduates as keynote speaker and received an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters. Vai Sikahema, General Authority Seventy of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and a former NFL player and TV broadcaster, addressed graduates during baccalaureate and received an honorary Doctor of Divinity.
President Jill Leauber Marsteller ’78, P’18 told the 309 graduates, “You are the class that has changed my life,” Marsteller said. “And my memories of you will continue to be a constant reminder, whether here in the den or out in the global wilderness, that every single day has been and will be a great day to be a Bear.”
