Peer Advocates are required to attend in-person training during the week before the start of each semester. 

Fall training is split into two requirements. Training begins in July through a self-paced Canvas course with prerequisite information on Ursinus policy, Title IX procedures, and leadership skill-building. Following the completion of this course, Peer Advocates move back to campus a week early for in-person training to practice the skills they have learned and prepare for policy-education events during first-year students’ orientation and ongoing workshops for returning students.

Spring training acts as a continuation of Fall training on the day before classes start to review Title-IX-related skills and prepare for the semester accordingly. 

Once the semester starts, Peer Advocates are expected to attend one weekly meeting led by the Prevention Specialist and one monthly professional development led by the advisor. Meeting dates and times will be communicated at the start of each semester and adjusted to meet each team member’s class schedule.

Each Peer Advocate will also serve a group role (Secretary, Outreach, Social Media…) and spend additional time working in small groups to reach additional goals. Peer Advocates are expected to organize and attend group events and volunteer to facilitate workshops when requested.
