Bonner Leaders Program
The Bonner Leaders program is a competitive scholarship that offers selected students with exceptional records of leadership, community service and/or social justice work an opportunity to continue their commitment to the common good. This award is on top of your merit award.
The mission of the Bonner Leaders Program is to transform the lives of students and members, the life of their campuses, their local communities, and the world through service and leadership. Bonner Leaders receive an annual Ursinus Bonner Leader Scholarship in the amount of $5,000. While attending Ursinus, Bonner Leaders commit to serve an average of eight to ten hours per week of service working in the community with local non-profits.
In addition to community outreach, Bonner Leaders spend about two hours a week together as a group, reflecting on experiences and participating in training sessions to develop personal and leadership skills. Additionally, the program is designed to enhance the students’ academic experiences by fostering real-world, community connections.
For consideration, students should apply to the college by February 1.

On-campus interviews will take place in March.
We are looking for students who show a strong commitment to service, community engagement, and social justice. They should be thoughtful leaders with a curiosity and desire to learn about and make positive change in the world around them. We also consider a student’s academic standing, seeing as this program requires an added level of commitment beyond the standard course of study. Students who bring unique and diverse experiences, backgrounds, and perspectives are encouraged to apply.
Students selected as Bonner Leaders will receive:
A $5,000 scholarship, renewable all four years, for a total of $20,000;
One-on-one advising with their Bonner Coordinator and Director;
Leadership standing in the Ursinus service community
The following is expected of Bonner Leaders:
Make community service and leadership development one of their highest priorities
Maintain good academic standing
Perform a minimum of 300 hours of service during the school year by serving an average of 8-10 hours a week with a community partner(s) during the school year
Attend Bonner Orientation at the beginning of each semester
Submit hour logs at the end of each month
Attend Saturday Service Days once each month
Scholars in Service
Scholars in Service will be awarded $2,500/year.Scholars in Service is a competitive scholarship program that offers selected students with exceptional records of leadership, community service and/or social justice work an opportunity to continue their commitment to the common good. This award is on top of your merit award.
Scholars in Service at Ursinus College fosters an atmosphere of service and leadership, in which students learn and grow through a combination of direct service, training, reflection, and leadership development.
Service is supplemented by on-campus bi-weekly meetings and one-on-one advising with the Assistant Director of UCARE to round out not only service learning, but liberal education at its very core.

A $2,500 scholarship, renewable all four years, for a total of $10,000
Requirements of Scholars in Service:
Complete a total of 150 hours of service in the community per academic year (4-6 hours per week)
Attend bi-weekly Scholars in Service meetings, where we reflect on our service experiences, participate in trainings, and learn about and discuss issues relating to social justice
Participate in one Saturday of Service per month as a group
Maintain good academic standing
Serve as a positive representative of Ursinus and UCARE while serving at a community partner organization
