Employee Classifications

Ursinus College Employee Classifications:  (updated Feb 2015 for ACA)

Full-Time Full Benefit Employees (FTFB): those who are employed on a regular basis that is hired to work a full daily schedule each week of 35 hours or more.  Full-Time Full Benefit employees are eligible for all College benefits; including medical insurance, dental and/or vision insurance, 403b retirement contributions, Emeriti contributions, college paid life insurance, supplementary life insurance and college paid long-term disability.

Full-Time Limited Benefit Employees (FTLB):  those who are employed on a regular basis that is hired to work a daily schedule each week of 30-34 hours.  Full-Time Limited Benefit Employees are eligible for medical insurance only and 403b retirement contributions.

Non Full-Time Employees:  those who are employed to work 28 hours or less each week.  Non Full-Time Employees are only eligible for those College benefits which are legally required.  For purposes of determining eligibility for medical insurance, these employees shall have access to the measurement period of 12 months.

  • Variable Hour Employees:  those who cannot be defined as full-time or part-time as of the date of hire.  Employees included in this classification are head or assistant coaches receiving a stipend for service provided both in and out of the specified sport season.
  • Seasonal Employees:  those who are in a position for which the customary annual employment is six months or less and the period of work begins at about the same time each year.  Employees included in this classification are student (both UC and non-UC) summer workers and assistant coaches.
  • Part-Time Employees are those who on a regular basis with a work schedule of 28 hours or less either year round, academic year only, or per semester basis.  Employees in this classification include: adjunct faculty receiving a stipend for service provided for the duration of the contract, regularly scheduled part-time employees and student employees.
