Tips for the college search

I recommend deciding how far from home you’re willing to be first and go from there. Then, think about the learning environment that is best for you; the size of your school will directly impact this! From there, visit, visit, visit! This can be virtual and in-person. The more you can learn about the places within your distance radius and size preference, the more confident you will be with your decision!

Background

I graduated from the College of Arts and Humanities at the University of Maryland, College Park. Being part of the liberal arts college within the University helped me see the true value of a liberal arts education. I then went on to work at Archbishop Spalding High School in Severn, Maryland. For the first eleven years, I worked as an English teacher, who (if I may say so myself), excelled at writing college recommendation letters! My twelfth year was spent as the Director of Student Activities, overseeing all the non-athletic student engagement activities on campus. This position involved frequent interaction with the admission department, which I found very rewarding.

In the role of Assistant Director of Admission here at Ursinus, I am humbled to have the opportunity to help students make one of the biggest decisions of their young lives, and I look at this position as a grand responsibility to help them find the place that is a perfect fit.
