What experiences were you able to gain because of the Abele Scholars Program?
I have been able to meet an incredibly welcoming, intelligent, and kind group of people through all of the students and staff who are a part of the Abele Scholars Program. I have also been able to go on a weekend trip to Valley Forge focused on civic engagement, as well as touring the Union League in Philadelphia with my cohort at the start of the year.
Why did you want to be an Abele Scholar?
I wanted to be an Abele Scholar because I felt that the idea of paying it forward was already incredibly important to me. It is a value that my parents made central in my upbringing and if I were to be a part of any organization or community, I would want it to be one that allowed me to express this aspect of my personal values and that would enable me to help others while gaining new experiences myself.
Why did you choose Ursinus College?
It had a rigorous and respected academic program, especially in the sciences. The campus was very inviting and appealing to me. All of the faculty and students I met prior to choosing Ursinus were very nice. I am also local so I know and enjoy the area.
Activities
I participate in Film Club, I do a radio show twice a week with my friend, I work a clerical job off of campus, I sometimes go to Volleyball Club, I volunteer to read to kids in Spanish at the Royersford library and I volunteer with Integrate For Good weaving sleeping mats out of recycled plastic.
