What do you love most about Ursinus?

It has to be the amount of guidance provided. While we may legally be “adults”, we are still trying to figure a lot of things out. Being surrounded by faculty who have incredible backgrounds and experiences and who want to see you succeed so badly provides so much comfort, especially when you are away from your parents for the first time. Not a lot of college students can say they have as many people on campus looking out for them as Ursinus students do, which is really special.

What opportunities have you had to explore and grow your passions at Ursinus?

I came into college with no intention of pursuing a second major. I was just planning on sticking with Psychology, but I had no clue what I wanted to do with it. I ended up taking an education course and realized how passionate I was about students, learning, and the education system as a whole. I worked with one of my professors to figure out how I could add it as a second major and found a way to make it work in my schedule. They have been my favorite classes so far and have helped me realize what I care about and how I can turn those passions into a career.

When did you first discover Ursinus was the right fit for you?

My brother is actually an Ursinus grad, so I was originally against coming here because I wanted to do my own thing. However, I was convinced to do an official tour anyway. I realized how much opportunity there really was, which I was surprised about. I was only really familiar with what he was doing, but I realized I could make a completely different experience for myself - which I have done. I saw how well my brother was able to balance school and athletics. I remembered him talking about how both his professors and coaches were so accommodating with his schedule, which has been my experience as well. Realizing I could experience all of the awesome resources and community he had while also creating my own path made me realize this was where I wanted to be.

What has been your favorite experience at Ursinus so far?

We got to host the Centennial Conference Championships for outdoor track both my freshman and sophomore years, which had to have been my favorite experiences. Partially because I love competing, but also because so many people from other sports and other groups came out to watch, especially on the last day for the last event (which I got to run in!!). It was awesome to see so much support and such a sense of community.

Advice for incoming students:

Follow your gut! My parents always told me you get a feeling when you know if a school feels like it could be your home or not - and it’s completely true. Also, don’t be afraid to get a little uncomfortable when you first get on campus. That’s how you’re going to gain new experiences and make the most out of your four years.
