What led to your decision to transfer? What does Ursinus offer that your previous college did not?

I decided to transfer to Ursinus due to the close-knit community and wide variety of opportunities. I was drawn to the liberal arts curriculum and the possibility to pursue a wide variety of interests.

How do you find that Ursinus College supports students of high academic achievement?

I think Ursinus provides an incredible opportunity for students to apply the concepts they learn in the classroom in real world ways. The research opportunities and mentorship at Ursinus are unmatched. Students have the opportunity to expand on concepts they learned to make progress in solving critical world issues.

Outside of the classroom, what are some activities that you pursued at Ursinus?

While at Ursinus, I was a Resident Advisor, Campus Safety Dispatcher, Melrose Fellow, Model UN delegate, board member of the Beardwood Chemical Society, and played field hockey. I also pursued two honors research projects in both Biochemistry & Molecular Biology and Politics & International Relations.

What were the challenges of adapting to a new college environment, and how have you met them?

Coming in and starting at the college after all my classmates was a challenge. Everyone has a routine established already while you are trying to find your way. Finding a few good friends makes the world of a difference and creates an important support network while you find your place at Ursinus.

What has surprised you most about your experience as a student at Ursinus

Truly having the opportunity to do it all. I would have never imagined that I would’ve been able to pursue both a passion for biochemistry and politics but I was able to study both, as well as get involved in a multitude of organizations in both departments. I also cannot say enough about the faculty who are so supportive and willing to make things work so you can do it all.

Why would you encourage another student to transfer to Ursinus?

Get involved and do not be afraid to ask about anything. The faculty are always willing to lend a helping hand and will work with you to start a research project you are interested in or establish a new club on campus.

What are your post-Ursinus plans?

I will be pursuing the Thomas J Watson Fellowship starting in July for a year. I will be examining how crises impact women as leaders in Europe, Japan, Australia, New Zealand and Argentina. I am also currently applying to medical school which I plan to start in the fall of 2024 after I return. I hope to one day work in medicine to both treat patients and improve global health policy.
