The number of area residents who experience some form of disability is growing. The Berman Museum is pleased to announce a series of new initiatives making the Museum’s collections accessible to a wide range of differently-abled visitors.

Access-Ability: Deconstructing and Reconstructing Art for Access is the Berman Museum’s first step in creating arts access through its exhibitions. Access-Ability will present pieces from the Museum’s permanent collection through verbal description and multi-sensory tours, 3-D tactile diagrams of two-dimensional works of art, and specialized guided tours for visitors living with dementia.

Access-Ability: Deconstructing and Reconstructing Art for Access is curated by Angier Cooper ’15, Emelie McFarland ’12, and Dr. Susan Shifrin, Associate Director for Education at the Berman Museum of Art. It is funded in part by generous gifts from Kathleen O’Dea and Robert Russell & Bill Mandel; by the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts; by Epps Advertising; by the Ursinus College Arts & Lectures Program, the Ursinus College Office for Disability Services, Psychology Department, Gender and Women’s Studies Program, and Common Intellectual Experience.
