About
George Hines ’77 is the owner and founder of George’s Music, the largest musical instrument retailer in the Philadelphia region. He launched the business right after his Ursinus graduation, leasing a storefront near the college, repairing instruments and teaching guitar. Today, George’s Music includes an online catalogue and ten stores in Pennsylvania and Florida. His stores contain more than 7,500 guitars and rare and unique instruments from around the world. At Ursinus, he majored in history and planned to teach. He never made it into the classroom but still considers himself a teacher. George’s Music participates in the national Blues in the Schools program, and sponsors the Springing the Blues Festival, Florida’s largest outdoor free blues festival.
