Chemistry Students Experience MIT
Ursinus students accompanied Professor Mark Ellison to the MIT campus to analyze a new two-dimensional polymer that was synthesized in the group of the MIT host, Professor Michael Strano.
The group used a Raman microscope to examine different-sized polymer molecules with the goal of using Raman measurements to be able to determine the molecules’ sizes. In their two days there, the students found some differences in the Raman measurements of two different-sized polymer molecules, so it is a good start to the analysis.
In addition to working in the lab, Ursinus students toured the MIT campus and took in the sights of Boston, including the Boston Commons and the Beacon Hill neighborhood.
