From Ursinus RA to Innovator in the Medical Community

Ursinus taught me that some of the most important things in life are the relationships you form with others. The relationships you form with your roommates, your classmates, your professors; these relationships will outlast the experiences and build the foundation needed to be successful.

Applying to Ursinus, I knew I wanted to be a doctor. Ursinus, through its pre-medical curriculum, laid the groundwork for the way I learned and how I would analyze problems. The experiences I gained from being a resident advisor and joining a fraternity helped form those relationships that would later prove to be important to my success as a physician, whether it was seeing Ursinus alumni in medical school, residency/fellowship interviews, or running into old Ursinus classmates working in the ER at 3 a.m.


After graduating from Ursinus in 2010, I went on to medical school at Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine (PCOM). From there, I matched for internal medicine residency at Christiana Hospital in Newark, DE. Covering the rapid response pager and rushing to Code Blue’s for the first time reminded me of the initial trepidation I felt when on duty for the first time as an RA at Ursinus. My experience as an RA taught me that understanding the importance of communication and identifying like-minded individuals to complete the task at hand was paramount to my success in high stress scenarios. The non-verbal communication skills that I learned from studying abroad in Florence, Italy where my host family only spoke Italian would pay dividends with certain patients through my three-year residency and in my career now.

After residency, I matched for a sports medicine fellowship at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and the University of Pennsylvania Health System. It was here that I became assistant team Internist for the Philadelphia Eagles and Flyers as well as provided medical coverage for the U.S. Men’s National Soccer Team. As one of the docs for the Eagles during their Super Bowl winning season, I covered training camp, physicals, concussion management, in-game sideline coverage, and other primary care duties for the team. Eating with the team every day was an added bonus!

After my fellowship was completed, I joined Penn Medicine as both a primary care and sports medicine physician. After my wife and I had our first child, I began to realize the struggles of work-life balance and wanted to have both more time with my family and with my patients. I left Penn in the summer of 2022 and founded Reinvented Health, a Direct Primary Care and Sports Medicine office located in Exton, PA. We offer a new model of health care to our community that puts the focus on our patients with direct access to the physician and longer, unrushed visits.
