A Conversation with Janet Biggs and Toby Jurovics

The artist and curator of Imagination and Desire in a Northern Landscape are coming to the Berman Museum of Art this fall. Join them on Thursday, October 26 to attend a guided tour of the exhibition and engage in a deeper conversation on its broader themes relating to climate change, identity, and isolation.
Biggs and Jurovics will be joined by Louise Woodstock, associate professor of Media and Communications Studies at Ursinus College.
There will be a wine reception at 5:30 p.m. as visitors acquaint themselves with the work before the talk begins at 6 p.m.
About Janet Biggs
Through an interdisciplinary practice that includes video, film, photography, and performance art, Brooklyn-based artist Janet Biggs merges art and science to explore the relationship between humans and their environments.
About Toby Jurovics
Toby Jurovics is founding director of the Barry Lopez Foundation for Art & Environment. He was chief curator and curator of American Western art at Joslyn Art Museum from 2011 to 2020; prior to this, he was a curator of photography at the Smithsonian American Art Museum and the Princeton University Art Museum. An expert on nineteenth and twentieth century American landscape photography, he has curated over fifty monographic and group exhibitions of photography, painting, works on paper, and new media.
About Louise Woodstock
Dr. Louise Woodstock came to Ursinus in 2003. The driving question that animates her research is “how do people talk about ‘communication’?” Her work has appeared in leading communication journals including the International Journal of Communication, Journalism, and The Communication Review. This semester, she teaches Climate and Communications, which examines successful climate change communication strategies.
