The Grundy Collection of scholarly articles, personal letters, rare newsletters, annotated manuscripts, and military records all pertaining to South Africa between the period of 1965 to 1994 reveals the debates, deceptions, and documentation of a world grappling with white supremacy as it breathed its dying institutional gasps. This collection brings Africa to life in suburban Philadelphia, allowing students, faculty, and the local community to immerse themselves in the experiences of African and world history. The collection is accessible by appointment only.

Dr. Kenneth Grundy (UC ’58) and his wife Marty Grundy (UC ’60) donated Dr. Grundy’s extensive collection of African studies materials — including books, periodicals and ephemera — to Myrin Library in 2006. Dr. Grundy collected mainly during his time as a professor of political science at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, OH. The 900 books included in the donation were integrated into Myrin’s main collection while the other materials — which fill around 40 boxes — make up this special collection.
