Congratulations to Jeevan S. Sekhar, M.D., FAAMA ’99
Recipient of the 2024 Alumni Humanitarian Award.
Curiosity, compassion, and community—these values, deeply held by Sekhar, were instilled through his undergraduate experience at Ursinus and enshrined through his time practicing medicine internationally. Sekhar credits Ursinus with expanding his perspective and inspiring him to serve rural and remote communities in Kenya, Mexico, and India. As one of Sekhar’s favorite Mark Twain quotes says, “Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness.” This experience has deepened Sekhar’s understanding of the connection between the individual and the whole, and the vital importance of caring for the well-being of both.
In addition to his medical practice, Sekhar is an experienced and award-winning martial artist. He was a gold medalist as part of Team USA at the Pan-American Kung Fu Championship in Canada in 2023.
