Species Profiles

A diverse mix of native tree and shrub species, together with a limited number of nonnative species, comprise the food forest. Besides their contributions to addressing food insecurity, these profiles highlight the many benefits these plants provide to people and local ecosystems. Wherever possible, profiles include the Lenape names for these plants (located to the left of the scientific names below). We are honored that the food forest is one place where the work of the Welcome Home Project and the College’s reconciliation efforts are well underway.
